A source code escrow is an arrangement whereby we deposit the source code with a trusted 3rd party (in this case, the NCC group) and, in the event of Monad Software ceasing trading, they release the source code to everyone who has signed up to it.
It’s not free, but it give you some measure of protection in the event that I get hit by a bus - though think that we’re at the point where Monad could soldier on without me now =)
